Opps was established in 2023 and inherited a family baking tradition dating back to the 1960s. During the 1960s through the 1980s in Macao, the family’s pastry masters created the once-famous traditional Chinese pastry known as “garden cakes” (Chinese egg shortbread). To preserve and pass on this craftsmanship, the next generation decided to combine traditional Chinese pastry-making techniques with Portuguese cookie craftsmanship to create new flavors and textures, leading to the founding of Opps.
The garden cakes faithfully recreate the classic street snack that was popular throughout Macao during the 1960s. The product was personally redeveloped by the brand’s founder, bringing back a familiar taste that carries the memories of several generations of Macao residents. The product line further incorporates Portuguese cookie-making techniques, resulting in more than ten distinctive flavors, including green tea, ginger, coconut, and curry fish ball varieties, achieving a perfect fusion of tradition and innovation. In addition, traditional egg rolls once produced by the family during the 1990s and 2000s have also been reintroduced, further enriching the product portfolio.
Opps is a truly local Macao brand, with all products manufactured in Macao.
