The brand name O-moon is inspired by the Cantonese pronunciation of “Macao” and also carries the auspicious meaning of a full moon. Since its establishment in 2016, the brand has taken “sharing Macao’s distinctive culture” as its core mission. Starting from its first small shop on Rua de Cinco de Outubro, O-moon has grown into a well-known cultural and creative retail brand with five branches in Macao and one store in Hong Kong. Its signature “Ruins of St. Paul’s Moon” installation, measuring 1.5 meters in diameter, has become a must-visit photo spot for travelers and symbolizes the brand’s role as a bridge between Macao’s history and contemporary aesthetics.
O-moon’s designs draw inspiration from Macao’s culture and history, centering on three major themes: the moon, a blue-and-white color palette, and Portuguese tiles. Since 2018, the brand has been authorized by Sanrio to launch unique blue-and-white co-branded collections featuring characters such as Hello Kitty, Little Twin Stars, Kuromi, Cinnamoroll, and Hangyodon. The brand has also developed the concept of “Macao exclusives,” creating one-of-a-kind IP products with local character, such as Hello Kitty items designed with Macao elements and Little Twin Stars collaborative sets inspired by Monopoly-style board games. These products have become distinctive souvenirs sought after by visitors and popular symbols for social media check-ins.
